A redpesk image is a complete system build that combines the operating system, selected software components, and user applications into a single deployable package ready to run on a specific hardware target.

Prebuilt images

Prebuilt images are available on the redpesk download server (see Download images chapter) for common hardware targets, allowing users to quickly install and test a working system.

Custom images

However, users can also create their own custom images by selecting redpesk OS packages and adding their own applications defined in a project. This flexibility makes it possible to tailor the image to specific hardware configurations or use cases. The image build process ensures that all dependencies are resolved and that the resulting system is reproducible.
